A Dream Wedding with Principal Planner

FLower arrangement for Principal Planner, sketches by Oxide Design Montreal Florists

FLower arrangement for Principal Planner

Working with Azar at Principal Planner this year has been nothing but a charm and we are so happy she approched us with this colorful and luxurious wedding. To dream of a contract like this would be an understatement, Gen and I are so thrilled to be a part of this stunning project!

The indications were simple: the bride LOVES flowers, quality before quantity, an arabian night color scheme and the incorporation of the national flowers of Egypt for the groom (we used papyrus) and Russia for the bride (since camomille isn’t in our color pallett but it is in the chrysanthemum family, we chose to use green santinis instead).

Here is a preview of the wedding flowers in sketches, we can’t wait to show you pictures, but you’ll have to be patient … the wedding is only in August! Stay posted!

Weekly December flowers for Goodman Private Wealth Management

Tulips Flower Arrangement by oxide design montreal Florists

Tulips Flower Arrangement

We got approached by Goodman Private Wealth Management to decorate their reception area with our flowers for the month of December!

Their decor being very crisp and modern, and their logo having a bit of orange, we chose as a color palet to work with whites, greens, a touch of orange and earth tones. We worked with white hydrangeas, orange tulips, green santinis, cedar, birch troncs and chocolate brown Christmas balls giving it a subtle Holiday feel.

Stay tuned for next weeks arrangement!

Wedding Flower Centerpieces

Terri and Patrick are a couple from the states who got married in the gorgeous Belvedere hall at the Montreal’s Science Center.

They wanted us to focus on color schemes and designs which were more natural in shape and appearance using various greeneries and selected blooms as accents. A mixture of green santinis, flatberry eucalyptus, varigated pittosporum, bear grass, purple decorative cabbages and purple and white agapanthus were selected to create this very organic and wild look.

With them being such wonderful people and our last wedding of the season, we surely took this one to heart and wish them a great future together.

Annick & Martin’s Montreal Wedding Flowers

Wedding Flowers

Annick and Martin are a young fresh urban couple from Montreal.

Their colors being eggplant and sage green, we played it off adding some lilac, purple and lime green to create an awesome color scheme! We used dark eggplant mini-Callas, lilac roses, purple Dendrobium Orchids, lime green Cymbidium Orchids and green Santinis. The stems of the bouquets and boutonnieres were wrapped in an eggplant ribbon with an accent of sage green ribbon.

We still have some pictures of their ceremony area arrangements to share with you next monday, stay tuned!

Anja and Ale's Wedding Flower Arrangement

Anja & Ale got married at the warm and elegant historic Maison Trestler in Vaudreuil last Saturday.

Being in love with her future husband of course, Anja also shared her love with Calla Lilies! Wanting to keep the warm look of the venue, we chose to work with dark oranges and creams with a touch of lime green, using burnt orange Calla Lilies, orange Mokara Orchids, white Hydrangeas and green Santinis. The result looks fabulous!

Congratulations to the newlyweds!

Using Lime Green: A Lesson in Contrast

Use lime greens to contrast against colorful flowers.

Use lime greens to contrast against colorful flowers.

I was working in flowershops all over Montreal when I realized people had preconceived notions about color contrast, I can still hear this famous sentence, imagining myself holding a bunch of colourful fresh cut flowers for a client: ‘’Why don’t we add a bit of white to brighten up the arrangement and give a nice contrast!’’, and this is when I had to teach them the contrast lesson!

In modern floral design, whites are gorgeous as soft accents to pastel colors such as light pinks, light yellows, light blues, light greens, or even on their own. It’s true, white evokes brightness, however it doesn’t pair up well with every color, especially darker ones.

If you want to give a nice contrast and illuminate a darker or very colourful bouquet, the way to go is using lime green flowers or fillers. It is incredible how this color will help it’s fellow flowers pop out and bring a new dimension to your bouquet. The fresh look of green vibernum, santinis, hypericum berries, berlitzia, shamrock chrysanthemum, celosia, amaranthus, and many others will definitely cheer up any sad bouquet!
