Another 50th Birthday Party!

Birthday with a modern feel

This year has been quite a festive one, with both my in-laws turning 50! A couple months ago, I showed you Lucie’s 50th birthday decorations, and now it is Joe’s turn to celebrate. My boyfriend and I LOVE entertaining, with him being a chef and my talent for design, it was only natural to have everybody over for a great looking feast!

I went for a very modern look, my decor being in the whites, blacks and grey, it was only natural for me to stay within those colors. I like an impact, so I decided to hang 30 silver balloons in a chuck around my chandelier, I love it! I don’t even want to take them down anymore! I particularly like how everything you see on my table comes either from Ikea or from Dollarama, who said you had to spend tones of money to achieve an amazing look…

After a 6 course Italian meal, champagne, wine, Sambuca and Porto, everyone had an awesome evening. The party was a true success and I wish Joe a year filled with joy and success, we love you!

J’adore la façon dont ces supports variés et originaux présentent les plantes sous un tout autre angle (c’est le cas de le dire!), le système d’arrosage perfectionné permet aussi de garder celles-ci en vie pour une décoration permanente des plus originales.

Ces arrangements se prêteraient si bien à mon petit chez-moi, Noël s’en vient … j’en veux un!

Last weekend Gen and I went to Amélie Cousineau’s studio to shoot Christmas arrangements for an upcoming very exciting project. We had so much fun! It’s always nice to get together with the girls and do what we all do best: be creative and have a good laugh. Gen and I even got crazy getting pictures of us taken, all dressed up and in the holiday spirit at 9 am on a Sunday morning … got to do what you gotta do and boy did we have a blast doing it! We can’t wait to share those pictures with you all and to fill you in on our special plan, keep posted!

A stunning hotel for my vacation in Puerto Plata!

Hola! I’m back from my two week vacation with my charming boyfriend and it was amazing. Great weather, fun activities, drinky-drinks, sleepy-sleep but most of all a georgeous hotel.

We went to the BlueBay Villa Doradas in Puerto Plata, not the greatest spot for a white sand beach and clear blue water, but we knew that, we chose this hotel because it was situated right beside a golf course (yes, we brought our golf bags!) and because of how beautiful and modern the hotel was. I fell in love with the lobby, with it’s light blue and white drapery and out of this world lanterns, such a different scenery from your usual all-inclusive tacky hotels. We had so much fun going for a ride in dune buggies (my boyfriend dragged me there, not my idea!), on a catamaran (that’s me!), to the casino and on a couple random outings in the city, we met great people that made our trip one to remember!

So basically I’m back, rested, inspired and ready to attack 2010, get ready!

Mes Vacances à Cuba!

Cette année encore, mon copain et moi nous sommes rendu à Cuba pour nos vacances de fin de saison. La formule “tout inclus” est parfaite pour nous. Comme nous avons besoin de dormir et de recharger nos batteries..Ça fait du bien de changer le bruit de mon cellulaire qui sonne pour celui de la mer.

Nous avons avons tout de même bougé un peu en allant à la Habana!! Quelle découverte!! J’ai tout simplement adoré. Les couleurs, l’architecture datant du 16e siècle dans la Habana coloniale, les places publiques, la bonne humeur générale de ses habitants!! Un délice!! La prochaine fois, j’y passerai ma semaine.

A Bridal Bouquet for a Surprise-Wedding!

My boyfriend’s mother and stepfather went on a romantic trip to Spain and Portugal a couple weeks ago, how romantic you ask? Well romantic enough for them to sneak all the way to Gibraltar and, to everyone’s surprise, come back married!

I was so flattered when she told me that she couldn’t find a flower shop, had to buy flowers from the grocery store and finally opened her laptop to follow our blog for find tips and tricks on how to make her own bridal bouquet! So funny! Chris and I went to pick them up from the airport and we just had to give her the stunning bridal bouquet she deserved, using circus roses, fushia tulips, burgundy skimmia and green cordyline.

We are so happy for Marie-Andrée and Mike and still can’t believe the stunt they pulled on us, crazy kids! We wish them love and happiness for years to come!

As much as it’s important for me to work hard, I also enjoy a good night with family and friends from time to time! Well I had the opportunity to do all of the above for my lovely boyfriend’s birthday party last wednesday!

Boy did I run that day, making sure evey details were perfect, turning the dining area into a lounge, the living room into a casino and the kitchen into a restaurant. We had so much fun, and the look in his eyes when he opened the door and all of his loved ones screamed surprise … priceless! What an awesome night it was, I still have chills thinking about it!

Can you believe that in the middle of all of that planning I forgot to decorate with flowers! Incredible, as we say in french : ’’Cordonnier mal chaussé!’’ Next time!

Enfin notre à tour de s’amuser! Habituellement c’est nous qui travaillons les soirées des mariages, mais pas cette fois-ci! Non, non, c’était le temps pour Stéphanie et moi de danser, prendre un verre (ou deux!) et de retrouver d’anciens amis et collègues de travail à cette merveilleuse soirée pour le mariage de Jennifer et Mike au Château Vaudreuil.

Nous avons travaillé avec Jennifer, la mariée, pendant notre parcours de 5 merveilleuses années au fleuriste Alain Simon Fleurs. Que d’histoires nous avons ensemble et tant de beaux souvenir, nous sommes si fières d’avoir eu la chance d’assister à cet heureux événement.

Nous souhaitons à Jennifer et Mike des tonnes d’amour, de bonheur et de succès pour les années à venir!

I love playing golf, but I also love the Hydrangea tree at the entrance of the first hole at Harwood Golf Club!

Since I am a beginner, my boyfriend likes to take me to this charming little 9 hole golf course in Hudson. Every time I go, I can’t help but to stare at this gorgeous hydrangea tree, I am amazed every time at how nature can produce such a beautiful thing. The fluffy texture of the flowers makes me want to take a nap on top of the tree! I love it!

I dread the next time I go when nature will take its course and my flowers will be gone, it will be so sad …

Me, Sushi and a Dendrobium Orchid Flower

A Sushi Dinner in Montreal with my Boyfriend

My boyfriend and I were craving sushi last Wednesday, being downtown we decided to go to Sho-Dan on René-Lévesque.

I guess flowers never leave my side because in every dish we were served, I had this lovely fuschia and white Dendrobium orchid flower which kept on appearing! We had a great time chatting, eating, enjoying each other’s company and admiring our new little orchid friend until I turned around and … in my boyfriend’s mouth it went! I guess that’s what it was there for, but … men can be so brutal at times! Lol
