Flowers we have in mind for Karenne & Danny's Wedding

This weekend will be a very special one for Karenne and Danny; their wedding!
They’re a young couple with two small children who are having a nice intimate wedding at l’Auberge Saint-Gabriel.
Purple being a very popular color this season, we chose to work with eggplant mini-callas, purple mokara orchids, eggplant dendrobium orchids, purple roses, blue hyacinthes, green santinis and pandanus leaves.
We also added white mini-callas for the bride’s bouquet as she felt the bride should carry some type of white flower.
The style is very simple and modern, just as they requested! Can’t wait to show you the pictures next week, stay tuned!

What Pandanus and Cordyline Leaves Look Like in Nature

Pandanus and cordyline leaves

Pandanus and Cordyline leaves in Nature

While on vacation, I was so happy to see some very familiar faces, and no I am not talking about people, but about our good friends the pandanus and the cordyline leaves at their natural state!

Every year I am amazed to see these leaves we work with so often come to life in an actual plant on a beautiful sunny day by the beach. Before actually seeing one with my own eyes, I never would’ve thought a pandanus leaf came from such a big tree, so crazy! I took these pictures with the thought of showing you guys the origin of some of the products we use, I just think it is so incredible for these leaves to come from the plant they are attached to, to being folded in a thousand different ways in our arrangements.

Well I hope you enjoyed another little souvenir from my vacation, I am getting nostalgic thinking about those plants … got to wait until next year to see more!

DIY: Orchid vase

Do it Yourself Orchids Vase

Do it Yourself Orchids Vase

Here is a fabulous way to showcase orchids and an easy one too!

What you need:

  1. A medium size cylinder vase
  2. Orchids! Which ever type or colors (here purple dendrobiums)
  3. Pandanus leaf
  4. Monstera leaf

How to create this look:

  1. Wrap the pandanus leaf at the bottom of the cylinder vase.
  2. Add your orchids inside the vase making sure to adjust the leinght of the stems so the flowers don’t stand higher than the top of this one.
  3. Top everything off with a beautiful monstera leaf, making sure the stem is tall enough to reach for water, but is hidden amongst the orchids.

Have fun!

Flower Arrangement for Pre-Wedding Event at Montreal Restaurant Decca 77

Flower arrangement for pre-wedding diner at restaurant decca 77 Montreal, by Oxidesign florists

Flower arrangement for pre-wedding diner

These were arrangements we had created for a pre-wedding diner at the gorgeous Decca 77 in Montreal.

The beautiful velvety steel blue color of their dining room chairs was at the core of our inspiration for this project. We wanted to go all out with creativity in the shapes we used. We started by wrapping gift boxes in fabric and structurally worked our way up using folded and cut pandanus leaves to highten the square base for the flowers. We then played with green anthuriums, green cymbidium orchids, small bullit alliums, sedum and artichokes to create this wonderful color palette.

Creatively definitely one of our favorites!

A Thank You Bouquet to a Special Babysitter

isn't it the perfect bouquet ?

The perfect bouquet for Patricia

Patricia is a very important person in my cousin Claudia’s life as she babysat her for many years.

Being that she is now retiring and having a party, Claudia asked me to create a special bouquet for that special someone. I used purple Mokara Orchids, dark Burgandy Dahlias and Pandanus leaves to help brighten everything up, the result is elegant, fun and beautiful.

She loved it!
