I would like to introduce you to Dan Yeffet a talented modern furniture designer. His limited collection caught my eye! He features space, furniture and lighting accessories accessories for homes and offices. Dan is the man behind JellyLab design studio currently located in Paris. He is an artist that “puts a piece of himself into every work he does.” He considers himself to be a explorer and adventurer and I find his designs exemplify that.

His uniquely designed vases sharpen the character of a room. I would display these pieces as unqiue stand alone decoration or as a centerpiece with flowers. Yeffet’s talent brings decor to another level. Express yourself, would you decorate your place with Yeffet’s designs?

This year has been quite a festive one, with both my in-laws turning 50! A couple months ago, I showed you Lucie’s 50th birthday decorations, and now it is Joe’s turn to celebrate. My boyfriend and I LOVE entertaining, with him being a chef and my talent for design, it was only natural to have everybody over for a great looking feast!

I went for a very modern look, my decor being in the whites, blacks and grey, it was only natural for me to stay within those colors. I like an impact, so I decided to hang 30 silver balloons in a chuck around my chandelier, I love it! I don’t even want to take them down anymore! I particularly like how everything you see on my table comes either from Ikea or from Dollarama, who said you had to spend tones of money to achieve an amazing look…

After a 6 course Italian meal, champagne, wine, Sambuca and Porto, everyone had an awesome evening. The party was a true success and I wish Joe a year filled with joy and success, we love you!

While on vacation, I was so happy to see some very familiar faces, and no I am not talking about people, but about our good friends the pandanus and the cordyline leaves at their natural state!

Every year I am amazed to see these leaves we work with so often come to life in an actual plant on a beautiful sunny day by the beach. Before actually seeing one with my own eyes, I never would’ve thought a pandanus leaf came from such a big tree, so crazy! I took these pictures with the thought of showing you guys the origin of some of the products we use, I just think it is so incredible for these leaves to come from the plant they are attached to, to being folded in a thousand different ways in our arrangements.

Well I hope you enjoyed another little souvenir from my vacation, I am getting nostalgic thinking about those plants … got to wait until next year to see more!

When my friend Ross asked me to decorate his brand new Ristorante La Bella Italiana in St-Leonard with some of our creations, I was thrilled!

The design of the interior being modern yet warm, and the colors very earthy, we chose to go with the simplicity of birch troncs and river rocks in clear vases. We had created this design for my cousins condo which was in a similar color palette and thought it would work as well for this project.

Bottom line is that it ended up looking fantastic, I even had help from his little 2 year old nephew to place the rocks in the vases! We’d like to say congratulations to Ross and his family on their new journey and wish them luck and tones of succes.

At O.XIDE Design, fall is one of our biggest inspirations. But who doesn’t appreciate the wonderful colors of fall! Did you ever wonder how and why a leaf changes color in fall? Why a maple leaf turns bright red? Where do the yellows and oranges come from?

As summer ends and autumn comes, the days get shorter and shorter. This is how the trees “know” to begin getting ready for winter.

During winter, there is not enough light or water for photosynthesis. The trees will rest, and live off the food they stored during the summer. The green chlorophyll disappears from the leaves and as the bright green fades away, we begin to see yellow and orange colors. Small amounts of these colors have been in the leaves all along; we just can’t see them in the summer, because they are covered up by the green chlorophyll.

The bright reds and purples we see in leaves are made mostly in the fall. In some trees, like maples, glucose is trapped in the leaves after photosynthesis stops. Sunlight and the cool nights of autumn cause the leaves turn this glucose into a red color.

Every fall, I find myself amazed at what nature can do. And every fall, I must take a walk on the mountain to savour this very short season.

The feel for these designs was inspired by our idea of a very romantic & intimate dinner for two, in … Milan perhaps!

We wanted to use the ornate look to the extreme to achieve this mixture of modern and romance, all in red and black, using Roses, Hydrangeas and Amaryllis in different shades of reds. The feathered lampshade with a suspended flower ball on top of the clear vase creates tones of drama, as for the smaller arrangements they simply bring a pop of color to the black plates.

We suspended a flower ball made of red Amaryllis flowers and pieces of reddish Hydrangeas, we then attached black ornaments to the bottom to jazz up the look of a simple flower ball and give it a more modern and finished feel.

We submerged the feet of three chrome chandeliers in a sea or red roses and reddish amaryllis inside a low cylinder shaped clear vase.

This screams passion!
