Crystals and orchids, the ultimate luxury! Last wedding season was filled with this magnificent combination and we are very excited to share these pictures with you. Having an inventory of crystals and chandeliers for vases and using our creativity to work with orchids, we are able to provide brides with these lavish designs.

Orchids and Crystals

The simplicity of these arrangements really showcases the true beauty of these two products, remember that sometimes less is more, quality over quantity! A chandelier siting on a tall vase with stunning orchids, anyone interested?

The star of the show held by a princess for a day: the bridal bouquet! Some prefer it to be more traditional, some want a splash of vibrant color and others simply want to go crazy with it’s design.

This bouquet is also very important detail-wise as it will be examined and adored throughout the day. The same touches in the finishing of the boutonnières and corsages are added to the bridal bouquet as well as the bridesmaid’s ones. The flower combination, colors and shapes are endless but there is only one that will end up being perfect for that special day and are there to guide you all the way!

Bridal Bouquet

The History:

The custom of bouquets has its origin in ancient times. Women carried aromatic bunches of garlic, herbs and spices to ward off evil spirits.

In ancient Greece and Rome, the bride and groom wore a garland around their necks, symbolizing new life, hope and fertility. Traditional Celtic bouquets included ivy, thistle and heather. The garland was not made of flowers but of strong-smelling herbs and spices. The strong-smells were thought to have mystical powers and meant to keep away evil spirits.

When Queen Victoria married Prince Albert, the herbs and spices had been replaced by fresh flowers, especially marigolds. Edible flowers were still included in the bouquet. The bride would carry her arrangement as she walked down the aisle. The dill from the bride’s bouquet (also known as the herb of lust), was consumed by the bride, the groom, and their wedding guests during the reception, as the herb was meant to increase sexual desire!

Attention to details is one of our most precious vertues, we definitely bring it when it comes to boutonnières and corsages!

These tiny flower arrangements need to blend in perfectly with the rest of the wedding flowers and every touch counts. Whether it is the use of the correct flowers (some flowers cannot be used as boutonnières or corsages because of their longevity out of water) or the finishing using proper colored ribbons or other accents repeated elsewhere (like pearls, crystals or specific leaves) the finished product will always look fabulous!

Boutonnieres and corsages

A little history:

A boutonnière is a floral decoration worn by men, typically a single flower or bud. The word comes from the French boutonnière, or buttonhole, which is the British term.

Traditionally, a boutonnière was worn pushed through the lapel buttonhole (on the left, the same side as a pocket handkerchief). However, on many recently made coats and jackets, the lapel is made without the stem loop required, which would normally sit on the reverse of the lapel, beneath the buttonhole. Sometimes, the lapel buttonhole is in the ‘keyhole’ shape, as opposed to the traditional straight cut, or is not even pierced through, in which case the boutonnière may be pinned onto the jacket lapel, although this is considered unsightly by many.

A corsage is an assembly of flowers worn on a woman’s dress or worn around her wrist. Corsages are often worn by the mothers and grandmothers of the bride and groom at a wedding ceremony.

This year has been quite a festive one, with both my in-laws turning 50! A couple months ago, I showed you Lucie’s 50th birthday decorations, and now it is Joe’s turn to celebrate. My boyfriend and I LOVE entertaining, with him being a chef and my talent for design, it was only natural to have everybody over for a great looking feast!

I went for a very modern look, my decor being in the whites, blacks and grey, it was only natural for me to stay within those colors. I like an impact, so I decided to hang 30 silver balloons in a chuck around my chandelier, I love it! I don’t even want to take them down anymore! I particularly like how everything you see on my table comes either from Ikea or from Dollarama, who said you had to spend tones of money to achieve an amazing look…

After a 6 course Italian meal, champagne, wine, Sambuca and Porto, everyone had an awesome evening. The party was a true success and I wish Joe a year filled with joy and success, we love you!

On Wednesday December 2nd, I was invited to a wonderful girly cocktail party at Billie Boutique in Montreal on Laurier street. We were served champagne and cupcakes and even got professional pictures taken of our look that evening!

We were asked to design a couple of little arrangements to decorate the store and we came up with these stunning little couture pieces, so I like to call them. We made a tight ball of light pink roses a finished off the bottom with none other than a light pink cybidium skirt. It was important to add chocolate brown to the arrangements as this colour is important in their visual identity. We found these adorable chocolate brown ceramic vases on foot that we paired with ribbon bows of various pink and brown motifs.

These arrangements are so girly and look like candy, but they certainly don’t taste as good as the lovely treats we got in our gift bags from Kréavie!

Here is a fabulous way to showcase orchids and an easy one too!

What you need:

A medium size cylinder vase

Orchids! Which ever type or colors (here purple dendrobiums)

Pandanus leaf

Monstera leaf

How to create this look:

Wrap the pandanus leaf at the bottom of the cylinder vase.

Add your orchids inside the vase making sure to adjust the leinght of the stems so the flowers don’t stand higher than the top of this one.

Top everything off with a beautiful monstera leaf, making sure the stem is tall enough to reach for water, but is hidden amongst the orchids.

Have fun!

It seems like eating weird things is becoming a trend. Katerine Rollet, Montreal Epicurian insider treats herself to insects this Halloween.

Well, I didn’t want to take you that far, but how about candied flowers. If you want to be original, these will surprise your kids ( and your little daughter will be happy! ) , and your guests. They are also a bit more easy to swallow than insects for the weak hearts! We do love Katerine’s guts though!

I’ve gathered a few pictures that I found online of candied flowers to give you an idea. ( the sources are below )

I am serious, it can be done! Here is a recipe on how to make candied flowers by Martha Stewart.
