As I promised last week, I am sharing with you the arrangements which decorated the ceremony area for Annick and Martin’s wedding in Montreal.

They were looking for a very clean, simple and modern look, using white callas. We combined these callas with big accordeon leaves and earth toned river rocks in tall clear vases to create this minimalist, yet compelling look. Sometimes little touches can go a long way, remember … it’s all about the details!

Thanks Giving Fall theme

Thanksgiving. The day to say thank you! I take this opporutnity, to tell you how thankful Gen & I are for your continuous support.
We did not think we will be surrounded by so many people, so fast, that like our work, ideas, and blog.
I would like to let you know also that exciting things are coming soon to O.XIDE Design, and I will share them with you as soon as we’re ready to launch. I am excited, Gen too.

My Lovely Boyfriend’s Birthday Party!

As much as it’s important for me to work hard, I also enjoy a good night with family and friends from time to time! Well I had the opportunity to do all of the above for my lovely boyfriend’s birthday party last wednesday!

Boy did I run that day, making sure evey details were perfect, turning the dining area into a lounge, the living room into a casino and the kitchen into a restaurant. We had so much fun, and the look in his eyes when he opened the door and all of his loved ones screamed surprise … priceless! What an awesome night it was, I still have chills thinking about it!

Can you believe that in the middle of all of that planning I forgot to decorate with flowers! Incredible, as we say in french : ’’Cordonnier mal chaussé!’’ Next time!

Les fleurs du mariage d’Isabelle et Sébastien à Montréal: automne et pommes rouges!

Le thème du mariage était l’automne et les pommes rouges (une de leurs activités favorites étant la cueillette de pommes), nous avons travaillé avec la simplicité des Gerberas et des Roses rouges. Ayant la couleur rouge comme couleur dominante, l’ambiance dégageait une certaine chaleur et les formes étant net et précises un côté moderne.

Connaissant Isabelle depuis très longtemps, il était très important pour moi que ce projet soit une grande réussite. Je leur souhaite tout le bonheur du monde!

Flowers for a 40th Wedding Anniversary

Red Arachnis Orchids

40 years of marriage … what an amazing thing!

We created these arrangements for this very special event with the following guide lines: the use of the color red (ruby is the color which represents a 40th wedding anniversary), a sophisticated look, a mix between modern and traditional, and a budget restriction.

Using gorgeous red Arachnis Orchids inside a tall clear vase with a chandelier on top was the perfect recipe for this project. The crystals gave us a more traditional look while the clean lines of the tall flowers inside the vase kept it modern, the use of only a couple stems of flowers per vase also kept us on budget.

Our client loved it and so did we, what do you think?

Magnifiques bouquet et boutonnière

Manon et Alex ont fait appel à nos services pour la création de bouquets, boutonnières et corsages pour leur mariage.

Manon nous a envoyé un montage photo qu’elle avait créé, représentant sa vision des couleurs et textures désirées, nous lui avons ensuite présenté quelques croquis et elle est tout de suite tombé en amour avec le concept!

Pour s’agencer à son montage dans les tons de rouge, bleu pâle et crème au look vintage, nous avons choisi d’utiliser une combinaison de Dahlias rouges, d’Hydrangées bleu pâle et blanc et d’Orchidées Cymbidiums crème. Les bouquets et boutonnières ont droit à une finition de dentelle crème et de ruban rouge et bleu pâle.

Excellent concept de départ de la part de Manon, un autre projet réussi!

So Vibrant on her 40th Birthday

A Combination of Dotted Flowers, Striped Leaves and Vibrant Colors!

A 40th birthday is meant to be celebrated! These arrangements were created for a lady named Lina, reflecting her personality, colorful and fun were the lines to follow.

For the centerpieces we alternated two types of arrangements to give movement to the tables:

1. The first one being a small low vase with Pandanus leaf pieces inside, gorgeous orange Pincushion flowers and Vibernum Hydrangeas tightly grouped together.
2. As for the second one we used the same base, but in a higher vase, which we filled with dark fuschia Mokara orchids and again Vibernum Hydrangeas.

We decorated the bar using three vases of different heights with a Pandanus leaf rolled in the bottom of each vase and then one filled with orange pincushion heads, the second with dark pink Mokara orchids and the third with a steam of green Cymbidium orchids. We also created the gift box using a standard fuschia box we found at Ikea, cut an opening to insert the birthday cards and decorated it with ribbons and glued-on Pandanus leaves, Mokara orchids and Santinis.

Let me tell you the party was definitely colorful and everyone had a great time!

O.XIDE Design, Montreal's little wedding & events flower atelier is turning 2.

Ce rêve que nous avions de se lancer en affaire dans le domaine floral est devenu réalité il y a maintenant 2 ans, que le temps passe vite et que les choses ont évoluées !

Nous nous souvenons de notre premier meeting qui a eu lieu en camping (le budget était serré ! Lol). Deux jours complets de brainstorming, loins de toutes distractions et d’une productivité incroyable, lorsqu’on part de zéro il y a définitivement plusieurs points à discuter.

Après plusieurs contrats produits dans nos cours arrières ou bien dans le sous-sol chez Gen (oui! oui!), nous avons décidé qu’il était grand temps de faire le pas vers la location d’un atelier et avons investi dans la construction d’un frigidaire, quelle bonne idée !

Depuis, nous sommes extrêmement fières du chemin ou se dirige O.XIDE Design, nous avons des clients géniaux et des amis fabuleux dans l’industrie de l’événement qui aident à rendre ce rêve une réalité. Merci à tous ceux qui ont confiance en nous et qui nous obligent à nous creuser la cervelle à la recherche de nouvelles idées, lorsqu’il n’y aura plus de défis à relever, O.XIDE Design, le petit atelier de création florale à Montréal, n’aura nulle raison d’exister.

Levons notre verre à deux années mouvementées et à plusieures autres !
