Another 50th Birthday Party!

Birthday with a modern feel

Birthday with a modern feel

This year has been quite a festive one, with both my in-laws turning 50! A couple months ago, I showed you Lucie’s 50th birthday decorations, and now it is Joe’s turn to celebrate. My boyfriend and I LOVE entertaining, with him being a chef and my talent for design, it was only natural to have everybody over for a great looking feast!

I went for a very modern look, my decor being in the whites, blacks and grey, it was only natural for me to stay within those colors. I like an impact, so I decided to hang 30 silver balloons in a chuck around my chandelier, I love it! I don’t even want to take them down anymore! I particularly like how everything you see on my table comes either from Ikea or from Dollarama, who said you had to spend tones of money to achieve an amazing look…

After a 6 course Italian meal, champagne, wine, Sambuca and Porto, everyone had an awesome evening. The party was a true success and I wish Joe a year filled with joy and success, we love you!

At Home with Kim Vallee

At home with Kim Vallee - a blog about stylish living and easy entertaining

I had the pleasure of meeting Kim a week ago to pick up the vases we used for the flower arrangements we designed for her husband’s birthday party.

It was challenging working with her concept and color scheme, but Steph and I love challenges. I will write a post later about these arrangements, as I think they were particularly original and I would love to share them with you.

But the reason I am writing to you today is that I was so surprised with the professionalism of Kim. If you think being a blogger is a joke or a hobby, you are mistaken! Bloggers like Kim are more like editors of magazines.

When Kim wrote her post, she made sure to understand exactly how we work, our process, our philosophy and vision. I spoke extensively with her, and I was so happy to see how serious she was, and how important it was to her to deliver information that is useful and interesting to her readers as well as represent us in a fair way.

I realized that being a blogger is becoming a serious job. And the reason why Kim’s blog is so successful is because of her faithfulness to her brand, her mission and vision.

On my way out of her house, I realized how much that little encounter inspired me.

If you read this Kim, thank you! You make us canadian women bloggers proud!

If you don’t know about Kim’s blog, I highly recommend you take a look at it: www.athome.kimvallee.com

My Lovely Boyfriend’s Birthday Party!

My Boyfriend's Birthday Party

My Boyfriend's Birthday Party

As much as it’s important for me to work hard, I also enjoy a good night with family and friends from time to time! Well I had the opportunity to do all of the above for my lovely boyfriend’s birthday party last wednesday!

Boy did I run that day, making sure evey details were perfect, turning the dining area into a lounge, the living room into a casino and the kitchen into a restaurant. We had so much fun, and the look in his eyes when he opened the door and all of his loved ones screamed surprise … priceless! What an awesome night it was, I still have chills thinking about it!

Can you believe that in the middle of all of that planning I forgot to decorate with flowers! Incredible, as we say in french : ’’Cordonnier mal chaussé!’’ Next time! ;)

So Vibrant on her 40th Birthday

Vibrant Colors for a Special Celebration!

A Combination of Dotted Flowers, Striped Leaves and Vibrant Colors!

A 40th birthday is meant to be celebrated! These arrangements were created for a lady named Lina, reflecting her personality, colorful and fun were the lines to follow.

For the centerpieces we alternated two types of arrangements to give movement to the tables:

  1. The first one being a small low vase with Pandanus leaf pieces inside, gorgeous orange Pincushion flowers and Vibernum Hydrangeas tightly grouped together.
  2. As for the second one we used the same base, but in a higher vase, which we filled with dark fuschia Mokara orchids and again Vibernum Hydrangeas.

We decorated the bar using three vases of different heights with a Pandanus leaf rolled in the bottom of each vase and then one filled with orange pincushion heads, the second with dark pink Mokara orchids and the third with a steam of green Cymbidium orchids. We also created the gift box using a standard fuschia box we found at Ikea, cut an opening to insert the birthday cards and decorated it with ribbons and glued-on Pandanus leaves, Mokara orchids and Santinis.

Let me tell you the party was definitely colorful and everyone had a great time!

Line Atallah’s 30th Birthday Flowers

Line Atallah's 30st birthday flower arrangements

Line Atallah's 30st birthday flower arrangements

Since Line Atallah, our wonderful marketing director from TELEGRAPHE Agency, was 10 years old she dreamt of being 30. Funny? But true!

And the big day happened last weekend!

No need to say that she ate, drank and danced like she always dreamt it! She was surrounded by all the people that, in a way or another, made her life a richer, prettier and more exciting one! Being a flower lover, she called me in a rush to say: “Steph, I need to be surrounded by flowers on my birthday! I trust you, please design something for me!”

Her house being a kind of mixture between vintage, classic, and contemporary, we decided to use rich golden, mustardy tones with chocolate browns to create a very warm effect using sunflowers, orange mokara orchids, craspedia balls, dried local bamboo and river rock.

Using clear vases with a touch of brown and turquoise ribbons helped keep the modern look to a choice of flowers that is more rustic.

When she received our colour proposal, she loved it. And went crazy matching everything to the colours scheme. I am pleased that she was so happy.

Happy Birthday again Line, we wish you all the best!
