Cara & Jason’s Mont-Tremblant Wedding Part 2

Boutonniere and boutonniere for the dog! by Oxide Design, Montreal Florists

Boutonniere and boutonniere for the dog!

As promised yesterday, here are pics of the bridal and bridesmaids bouquets, boutonnières and even a very special guest in the bridal party … their doggy! We attached a long ribbon to a small boutonnière in order for them be attach it around his neck, how cute!

Sahara roses, light pink spray roses, eucalyptus berries, light pink triptomene and feathers with a touch of silver in the brading of the bouquets and boutonnières kept the romantic and vintage look we went for throughout the whole wedding.

We sincerely whish all the best to this great couple, what a pleasure to work with such fantastic people!

Cara & Jason’s Mont-Tremblant Wedding Part 1

Wedding flower Arrangement for Carla and Jason, by Oxide Design, Montreal Florists

Wedding flower Arrangement for Cara and Jason

After showing you a preview, here is the real deal! Cara & Jason’s Mont-Tremblant wedding, our first wedding of the season!

The white hydrangeas, light pink spray roses, pittosporum and light pink triptomene gave us the vintage look we were looking for. The use of these soft colors creates a very romantic, yet modern look, mixed with all the clear glass and crystal chandeliers.

Their idea of having colorful candies in clear jars also brought a fun and fresh touch to the decor, an easy way to create a great impact!

Something is missing you think? One of the most important part of the wedding flowers? Stay tuned tomorrow as we will present you the bouquets, boutonnières an even a little extra unusual request!

Exotic Parrot that Blooms in Thaliand!

This is another exotic specie I came across this week. The impatiens psittacina flower is a rare flower that grows in the north region of Thailand, Burma. This specie is protected, is not allowed to be exported. The impatiens psittacina strangely grows in a shape of a parrot, it is also known as the “parrot flower”. Thailand has many rare species, these beautiful flowers only evolve in countries with very high temperatures. This is another flower I have to see when I make my trip to Thailand.

De Simples Orchidées Dendrobium Blancs

Orchidées Dendrobium Blancs, by Oxide Design Montreal Florists

A Dream Wedding with Principal Planner

FLower arrangement for Principal Planner, sketches by Oxide Design Montreal Florists

FLower arrangement for Principal Planner

Working with Azar at Principal Planner this year has been nothing but a charm and we are so happy she approched us with this colorful and luxurious wedding. To dream of a contract like this would be an understatement, Gen and I are so thrilled to be a part of this stunning project!

The indications were simple: the bride LOVES flowers, quality before quantity, an arabian night color scheme and the incorporation of the national flowers of Egypt for the groom (we used papyrus) and Russia for the bride (since camomille isn’t in our color pallett but it is in the chrysanthemum family, we chose to use green santinis instead).

Here is a preview of the wedding flowers in sketches, we can’t wait to show you pictures, but you’ll have to be patient … the wedding is only in August! Stay posted!

Hockey theme Bar Mitzvah Part 2

Centerpiece for a Bar Mitzvah by Oxide Design Montreal Florists

Centerpiece for a Bar Mitzvah

Like we promised on wednesday, here is the second part of our hockey themed Bar Mitzvah!

It is often a dilemma, when talking centerpieces for a party, to chose between tall or low centerpieces. Some may love the impact a tall centerpiece will give to a room, while others are scarred it will block the view and prevent the two guests facing each other from making good conversation.

This situation actually applied to this project, as the boy’s mother prefered tall, and the father, low! The solution: to do half and half. It was important for the two centerpieces to stay in the same line, again using an arrangement of big monstera leaves and salal leaves inside a round low vase containing green apples and hockey pucks.

We love to mix and match height for events, it always looks so chic and dynamic!

Hockey theme Bar Mitzvah Part 1

Hockey theme Bar Mitzvah arrangement

Hockey theme Bar Mitzvah arrangement

Last weekend was a boy’s Bar Mitzvah who simply loves hockey! Our challenge was to incorporate that theme in our centerpieces, a hard task to keep elegant and not tacky look …

We used tall cylinder vases with an arrangement of monstera leaves, accordeon leaves and salal leaves on top. The inside of the vase was filled by a branch of curly willow, and at the bottom … hockey pucks and green apples! What a suttle, fun and modern way to give a hockey twist to a masculine floral arrangement.

To create a more dynamic design, we decided to play with heights and to do half the centerpieces tall and the rest low, stay tuned for our ’’Hockey Themed Bar Mitzvah Part 2’’ low centerpiece design!

I can tell you that my markers have been going at it the past few weeks! I have been sketching away, creating proposals for many brides and grooms to be and the creative juices are flowing!

We have been receiving lots of requests for purples and blues, here is a tiny sneek peak at some of these wedding flower designs.

From projects being quite simple to others more intricate, 2010 is looking good and Gen can’t wait to bring my drawings to life, we also of course can’t wait to share these projects with you guys! Got to get back to my sketches!
