Yves & Vanessa's Wedding Flowers: Yellow Orchids + Crystals

Yves and Vanessa got married in May 2009. It was so exciting to work on their flower concept. They were both in the design business, and wanted something unique and original that represented them.

They didn’t have an unlimited budget but were looking to create impact, while keeping an elegant all over feel. Being young, they wanted to stay modern, but having older people in their crowd, we couldn’t go too edgy or funky.

We scratched our heads, and came up with two proposals for them, and they picked this one. We were so happy they did. The outcome was spectacular. Check the bottom picture to see our initial proposal sketches, pretty close to the real thing, eh?

Mixing oversized crystals with the flowers, brought some originality to the arrangements, making them look “expensive” without being too glittery. The yellow cymbidium flower is an elegant flower that can live long without water. We tied the cymbidiums together to create a long flower thread that was hung in a tall clear vase. The vase was crowned with crystal chandelier like ornament.

We were happy with the outcome: elegant, modern and original. Just like Yves and Vanessa!
